Title: Freakiest thing I've ever seen!
Post by: Fiona on February 14, 2016, 10:43:38 PM
Well it was like something out of an alien movie!!!

I was feeding the fish and noticed a glass shrimp acting weirdly. I thought it was sick, it was waggling its front claws but they looked paralysed and it kept backing up along the java fern leaf, I thought it was going to fall off the end. The next minute it arched its back and suddenly stretched up. It was the weirdest damned thing I've seen in a while. It looked like it had doubled in size! Suddenly the skin split, it twitched, flicked the skin off and dived into the  densest part of the plant.

AMAZING!!! How I wish I'd been able to film it.

Fascinating! How often do they molt?

From the amount of cherry shrimp skins in the shrimpery I'd say 7-14 day intervals. The glass shrimp are in the 200l though, there were 10 in there initially, not sure how any may be in there now though.
