Feeding Shrimp Beta Glucans

Sorry all, I know this subject has been covered in the past and I did use the search facility.
I've been looking for the posts from Sue and (Helen? can't remember the other lady's name) from a couple of years back.
Searching only produces two pages.
Anyway, I've now received my Bet G.
I only have a 22 litre tank for the shrimp

1) The package says add 1/5 tsp twice a week in 100 litres water
2) Mix 1 spoonful (*size would be nice!!) with 50gm daily feed

So ladies and gentlemen. How do i measure and use it please.

Since I put the new shrimp in a couple of weeks ago there is more activity (more shrimps on show), no deaths that I can see, but also not a single ekoskeleton which I was getting before.

The new shrimp were very small

Many thanks in advance and again, apologies for repeat question

Did you get a spoon inside the package? There was a small clear plastic spoon inside mine.

One fifth of that spoon, the amount for 100 litres, is quite small. A quarter of a fifth of a spoon (the amount for 25 litres) is one twentieth of a spoon, very hard to measure. I took it to mean level spoonful rather than rounded or heaped.
I just use enough to cover an eighth of an inch at the end of the spoon handle for my betta's tank, which is 26 litres. I add it straight to the tank after a water change.

Doh... Thanks for that Sue.
I hadn't undone the packet so didn't know it had a spoon.  I just thought it was incredibly stupid to say 1/5 spoon but not what size.
The stupid one appears to be me for not checking.
Thanks again
Sandra

If just opened my pack of beta G and been trying to wortk out how I'm going to measure 1/5 of 1/5 to dose my tank, is it worth putting some in before I even get my shrimp, which I'm hoping to get this week.

AdyDnt your tank appears to be the same size as my shrimpery at 22 litres so presumably the advice sue gave of

"I just use enough to cover an eighth of an inch at the end of the spoon handle for my beta's tank, which is 26 litres. I add it straight to the tank after a water change" would also apply.

I know 26 litres is a bit bigger so I just judged it as best I could.  I have since had my first ekoskeleton in the tank which is the first for what seems like a long time.

Is there any point in putting it in the tank until you get shrimp?  Maybe do your water change just before the shrimp arrive and put the BetaG in then.  The advice seems to be when a water change is done anyway.

Do you have anything else in the tank already or are you still cycling it in readiness for later this week?

It's cycled and I've just done the big water change to put my bogwood and fake plants in, which was done last Thursday.

Well AdyDnt, if it was me I wouldn't put the Beta Glucans in until just as the shrimp go in but I'm sure Sue or one of the other experts will tell us both how to do it

I too would wait until the shrimp are about to go in. Unlike something like Bacter AE which stimulates growth of the biofilm in the tank, beta glucans is 'used' by the shrimps themselves as an immunity booster.
