I put new Cabomba in my tanks a couple of weeks ago and it looks really good, really healthy.

Before though the shrimp were all over (still are come to that) the Elodea and plastic plants I have in the tank but never seem to go near the Cabomba.  I have never seen a shrimp grazing on it.

Is it because the Cabomba is relatively new as far as algae is concerned or because it is too brittle for them

Give them time. Mine venture into it now and again but prefer the Java fern, moss and crypts in the tank. The stuff grows like stink so be prepared!

Thanks Cod.I know it grows. My grandon had it and was forever cutting back and I don't think he even had it planted.
It looks great, lovely and healthy, just doesn't appear to have "taken off".

I'll have to learn patience ;)

I bought some from a local garden centre. It came in a bunch of three stems with another three spigs of vallis and three elodea densa stems for a whopping £1! The Vallis didn't get on with my liquid carbon and my fish ate the elodea. So all I have left from that purchase is the cabomba. I love it, but now that it's taking off I fear I'll be forever trimming it!
