Berried Amano Shrimp

I have 4 Amano shrimp 2M 2F and the 2 females are berried.

Both their eggs are still quite dark so they are only recently berried, probably in the last week, I first noticed one was berried on Saturday (while on poo inspecting duties - that's another post) and it was only today when I saw them together that I realised they both were.

From what I have read I won't get any baby shrimp as their life cycle includes a larva stage in brackish water/sea before they return to fresh water as shrimp.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this as I was concerned how it will effect my water quality when the eggs are released.  I know a lot will be eaten - though my fish have totally ignored the Platy fry.  I don't have any big fish in my tank, the female Amano shrimp / Platy are probably the largest I have at about 4.5cm.

I had amano shrimps for a few years. The two females were constantly berried and I had no problems with water quality. I never saw any eggs or dead larvae so either they were eaten straight away or got lost in the substrate. I suspect the former!

Thanks, the eggs will keep the fish occupied for awhile and will give the cories something to find when they go digging in the sand.

It is the first time they have carried eggs and they seem to be having problems with their balance and moving around, they have gone all ungainly and they used to be so graceful. The eggs must have messed with their centre of gravity.  ???

My female amanos had problems with their balance at first too, but after carrying eggs a few times they got used to it. I guess it's a learning experience for them.
