Hello All,
I was just having a close look at my Pandas feeding in the 125L ..... and there it was ..... all 3mm. of it ..... one baby Assassin Snail. Oh Deep Joy! ;D Now I know it doesn't compare with being a proper egg - laying Fishy Grandad, but it's a start!
I added 2 Assassins in mid Feb, so they haven't wasted much time. If they're half as prolific as their pond snail targets, then there should be a few.
Does anyone keep Assassins with Cherry Shrimps ? Would it be a problem ?
I think that I need to celebrate this "birth" just like all those folks in London, so ..... I'm off to the pub !

Congrats Skittler,
No worries keeping assassins and shrimp together, the shrimp are far too fast for the assassins!

Congratulations on your new arrival.

Congratulations granddad. How many of your friends have said he looks just like you? :D

Thank You All,
Sanjo - that is a really spooky comment - when I got changed to go and celebrate last night , it was quite cool outside, so I wore a nice rugby shirt. It is black, with a broad yellow band around the middle! Pure coincidence, but spooky nonetheless. Unless of course, I am slowly morphing into .....no, surely not ...... mind you, I have eaten escargots in France .....

See, you have a definite (though subconscious) affinity with them. :rotfl:

I haven't seen the new grandson/daughter (grandsnail?) for a couple of days, and I was a little worried about possible cannibalism. However, tonight I have counted 7 of them along the front of the tank - which means there are probably dozens! And just when those juvenile pond snails, (which hide in the miniscule gap between the Juwel filter and the tank), thought they were safe :raspberries , Mother Nature comes up with a solution! Mini Assassins! Watch out boys! :yikes:

You'll be suprised how quickly they make a significant difference to the common snail population :)

Hello Fiona,
The two parents probably just about kept the pond snails to a level. They always seemed to eliminate the larger ones, say 3-4mm, but presumably found the small ones "not worth the effort". I was thinking about buying some more. So, I am hoping that you are right, and the babies will do their share.
I am quite surprised at the range of sizes of the youngsters - in fact, I am wondering if there are, in fact, two lots, and I just didn't notice before!
