Hello everyone, a long time since I posted but I do peek in occasionally.

Life and husband's health getting in the way!!

Anyway, some of you may remember an earlier post regarding my little miracle snail which re-appeared 5 days after going missing and which survived for a while till she did it again, despite a netted top.

On TUESDAY this week I transferred my shrimp colony into a cycled tank, stripping down the old one as i went.  IT was a 22 litre aqua nano tank with the compartments at the back from which I removed the large sponge filter.  I checked it carefully and as I wasn't going to be re-using it I squeezed the water out and dumped it into an empty 3 litre jug.

Today THURSDAY, I wanted to check the water heater which goes in the new tank as I wasn't  convinced it was working so switched it off, waited 15 minutes and removed the sponge from the water jug where it's been sitting since Tuesday.

Long story (shorter) I noticed movement in the drain of water that had obviously come out of the sponge and it was a tiny though recognisable shrimp.

Now I have been having cross words with the  other half because he says I don't need to heat a kettle to top uf my water changes at the moment which  ~i insist on doing on both the shrimp and the fish and I have been saying that my shrimp are very susceptible to bad water etc.

This little shrimp has proved me wrong. There may well have been a bit of algae on the sponge at the bottom where it was damp but it has survived in about 1/2 inch of water, no airline and not only that I left the jug in the conservatory yesterday and it was too hot in there for us to sit in it.

These little cherry shrimp are hardier than I imagined.

I've put it in the tank with the others. I don't know whether it will survive but at least it has a chance.
