Amano shrimp

After the recent egg scattering from one of my amano shrimp in the 125L tank I've been keeping an eye on all shrimp in the different tanks.
I have attached a picture of one from the 125L, and am guessing that she is carrying eggs.
My question is do females in tanks with males always carry eggs? In the 125L tank I have 3 large amano, all of which look like this. The 4 smaller ones aren't carrying anything.
The 3 large ones in both the 50L and 70L tanks have never been seen to have "a full undercarriage", and I'm sort of assuming that I've ended up with all females in the other tanks. Perhaps I need to spend more time observing them to try to sex them.

I used to have amano shrimps; the last one, a male, died at 5 years old. Well, 5 years after I bought it, since these shrimps are wild caught I have no idea how old it was when I bought it.

I had 2 males, 2 females. The females were constantly carrying eggs. They did change colour, I can't remember now whether they go paler or darker from laying to hatching. The last female which died at 4 years didn't have eggs for the last few months of her life but until then I never saw her or the other female without eggs.

Look at the markings down the shrimp's side. Males have dots, females have dashes. At least, mine did. And the shrimp in your photo has dashes.

At risk of taking this off topic for a moment... does anyone have experience with rams and amano shrimp, my rams will happily eat red cherry shrimp if they can catch them but Ive wondered about amanos and whether the rams would either mob them to death or leave them alone because they would be too big to swallow... any thoughts?

I had amanos with the larger bolivian rams and they were fine. You just need to make sure the amanos you buy are the biggest ones in the shop tank. The downside is that they are the oldest ones so they won't live as long in your tank as the smallest ones.

@Sue thanks for putting my mind at rest regarding my shrimp.  :)
I'll have a look for dots and dashes so I know what I've got in each tank.
