Title: Sailfin pleco not hiding
Post by: Cjnmynxy on October 09, 2017, 12:30:10 PM

Hi all I am hoping someone else may have had the same issue?
I have rencently moved my fish to a new larger tank, however my sailfin pleco ( goldie) is not hiding at all, it has plenty of places to hide 3x large pieces of bog wood caves, well planted and we have one corner we call jungle corner which he spends a lot of time around, but he was quite timid in the old tank but is openly sitting in the front not fazed by movement anymore or traffic at the front of tank. we also have a bristle nose pleco ( blackie) he is still hiding but yesterday came out and sat on the sand in the middle of the tank for around 4hrs,
All water parameters are fine no nitrates etc.
Has any one else had this issue please or can advise? Tia CJ

If it was timid in its old tank and now it isn't, that's a good thing, isn't it?

I would suggest that the Plecs are happier in the new tank. Did they have many places to hide in the old tank? Fish often hide if stressed. Unstressed fish tend to hide less. Also they're less likely to hide if they know they can hide if needed.

I agree.
If the fish has a lot of places to hide they can feel more secure and not spend as much time hiding.
It's good news.  :)

Many thanks to you all. I never thought of that. Yes he had less places to hide in the old tank but has loads of hiding spots and jungle corner to hide in this one.
Happy days 😉
