Title: Your New Tank Projects!
Post by: Stefan on December 21, 2013, 10:30:36 PM
This is a thread for you to share any new projects you are working on or planning on doing in the new year. I'll start it off:

I had a bad strain of white spot recently which caused 8 fish to unfortunately pass away. The remaining stock in my tank will be given to my local fish shop who's kindly taking them off my hands allowing me to start from a fresh pallet. After doing endless hours of research I finally came up with something that will be easy to maintain, making sure the fish have the same water parameters, yet something that will look natural, colourful, peaceful yet active fish.

The Stock

This list changed about 4-5 times before I was satisfied; very stressful process, but well worth it! The decor was the easiest part of the whole process due to the fish needing similar requirements. Took out my gravel and replaced it with silica sand which looks 100 times better. I bought 2 medium sized and 1 small sized bog wood which will look beautiful with anubias and java fern attached to them with vallis in the background and maybe some cryptocorne for the foreground. Maybe a few small rocks if needed and a bubble wall for water movement but mainly to keep my tank aerated.

Just some additional info about food. I will be feeding my fish AQUARIAN Tropical Flakes as their staple, Tetra Pro-Colour as a supplementary with frozen food as a treat once or twice a week. Sera GVG-Mix will be used every once in a while along with Freeze Dried blood worms (My old fish food) just to finish them off. I'll also be using King British catfish pellets for the corydoras.

Hope you enjoyed the read. Will be looking forward to hearing from you and interested to know what projects you've got going on or planned..come on..don't be shy  ;D

Just thought I'd give this thread a little update. The tank is now fully stocked, planted and the fish are looking much more happier and vibrant than ever! Couldn't be any more happier if I'm honest.
