Swapping Fish

I had a surplus of cockatoo apistos. I had two male juveniles, three female juveniles and their mother. I had to separate the males as they started fighting. One went in the quarantine tank and I placed an ad on aquarist classifieds to give him away. Then the mother started pestering the juvie females, so she went in the QT as well and I amended the ad to include her. And a couple of days ago the three female juvies started squabbling.

This lunchtime a chap came to take the one male, the mother, and one female juvie, and he asked me if I wanted some of his fish in return -  my choice was Aphyosemion striatum, Aphyosemion (Fundulopanchax) gardneri or Aplocheilichthys normani (a lampeye) though the last ones were too young to be sexed yet.

I'm now the owner of a trio (1m 2f) A. striatum  I've never had any killifish before, I chose the striatum as being the ones most likely to accept dried food. I'll have to wait and see if they will. They are only 2 months old but the male is already colouring up well, and is rather pretty 

I was so jealous though, the chap has a fish room including a 7 footer and a 5 footer and I'm only allowed three tanks
