Well, we finally did it and we're proud new owners of a Fluval Roma 200l  tank which is at the moment empty and resting on its cabinet in the front room.

The Indian Glass fish will be the first fishy inhabitants once its set up and cycled and then we'll sit down and work out exactly what else will inhabit it.

I saw some beautiful Electric Blue Rams in WildWoods Aquarium shop and my son was rather enamored by Bumblebee Gobis but I need to research them first . I don't want to make any of the mistakes we made with the first tank.

It's funny less than a year ago I had 1 tank and now we have 3, its a rather infectious hobby  ::)

i know what you mean in april i started with a 260 liter tank and now i have a 60 liter nearly cycled and the stand i designed for my 10 ft tank went off to be powder coated yesterday so cant wait to get that back in the new year.

good luck with your new tank :)

The two fish you mention would certainly not be compatible. Bumblebee gobies need hard water and only thrive in rather brackish conditions, i.e. with some added salt.

The Rams need soft water, the forms such as Electric Blue  are inbred and to quote Seriously Fish "These artificially-reared forms, tend to be inherently weak, susceptible to disease, exhibit shortened life-spans and poor reproductive vigour".

That's why I need to research some fishies, I know what we like and what's available, I just need to make sure they're compatible with each other and our liquid rock tap water. I'm not making any of the mistakes I made first time.

AM Indian Glass Fish are quirky characterful fish, just don't buy the artificially coloured ones.

Did your coloured glassfish all revert to normal eventually?

Yup they did thank goodness. They're all amazingly healthy and growing to be huge fish and will love the new tank hopefully.

Exciting times!!!

Just tested the water and had zero ammonia and nitrites for the first time so I've added a full dose and will test again tomorrow night. Wouldnt it be lovely if it was zero/zero tomorrow?  :)
