Well I went shopping this weekend for fishies for my tank, I already knew what I wanted and was just praying MA in St Albans was still stocking them and thankfully they did!  ;D

Apparently these fish don't sell very much because when people are browsing they aren't particularly showy but I think they are absolutely beautiful, especially the threadfins they are so delicate looking. Anyway I now have 2 shoals of these in my 200l tank.

I agree with you Fiona, they are beautiful looking fish. I hope they are settling in well.

The forktail rainbows are also at the top of my shopping list.

Please share the pictures from your tank when you can :)

I have been considering threadfins when I can restock, you'll have to let us know how you get on with them. I have a list of possible fish and I am going to have to chose between them.
Does your MA have males and females or just males? I can never decide about the ones at my MA.

Forktails prefer their water harder than mine, which is a great pity as they are gorgeous fish.

MA in St Albans stock both male and females and I have both in the tank, the females aren't as showy as the males but still quite pretty. The males look fab when they're displaying and the pictures really don't do them justice as you cant see their luminous eyes :) The only tricky thing I've noticed so far is that they have tiny mouths so the flaked food needs to be crumbled up very finely, other than that so far so good, although it's early days still.

edited to add: it was quite nice to find some fish that prefer hard water and I'd never even considered rainbow fish until you pointed me in their direction Sue so thankee for that

I added 2 male celebes rainbow fish last night and they're settling in beautifully, one already seems to have gathered up a harem for himself and as I speak they're all getting friendly amongst the weed towards the back of the tank. I wonder if they'll reproduce.

I did try to take a piccy but they all move too fast and I couldnt find one online that would do them justice. The males are particularly handsome. I have to thank Sue for pointing me in their direction.
