Natural form Indian Glass Fish arrive!

Its amazing how much difference 3 fish can make in a tank!!!! My poor coloured Indian Glass fish tended to inhabit different corners of the tank and were rather aggressive. Now all 6 of them are shoaling nicely and inhabiting the middle levels of the tank, I'm very pleased  :)

It was quite funny actually, I floated the bag with the new fish in as you do and within minutes Geoff* and co were up eyeballing the new fish through the bag and shoaling along side them in there. My son dragged himself away from the computer to see what I was chuckling about. When I let them out of the bag after an hour and a half they were all best mates.

My only concern is the guy I got them from warned me they are quite a weak fish, which is why they don't usually stock them. I had 50% death rate with the coloured ones but the survivors are doing really well, have grown in size since Dan bought them AND are fairly rapidly losing their colour which suprised me. Hopefully the natural form ones will fare a wee bit better.

I'm going to keep a very close eye on the water parameters, I've decided to check x2 a day so that if anything does go wrong the fish won't have to put up with it for long. Fingers crossed though things should be fine, 3 small fish shouldn't have that much impact on the filter bacteria I hope.

*seemed an appropriate name.

The fish will be much happier in a nice sized shoal. Interesting that the coloured ones are fading.

I suppose during normal cell growth the coloured cells get replaced, or the liver and kidneys slowly excrete it but that's just me hazarding a guess. Geoff has very little orange colouration left on him now and the larger of the coloured fish is about the same, the smaller has a large collection of dye above its skull, it's quite horrible actually because you can see how large the needle would have been and its been injected on either side of its head, poor thing.  >:(  Anyway it's all going swimmingly if you'll pardon the pun
