-
geophagus dont have a common name do they always known
them as geo's ? ? ?
-
Oooh. Missed that in my foggy brain day. I tend to use Latin for most things because I'm an amateur entomologist, and talking to other people (some overseas) is easier that way. Anyway, I...
-
I is for Inexpectatum Pleco!! ( latin name - Hypoptopoma inexpectatum )
come on Biff I'm surprised you didn't get that one!!

Geophagus is a genus and so includes several species. not sure which one would be meant by "Geo". I believe Geophagus brasiliensis is actually usually called Pearl Cichlid while some others are called eartheaters, of various types.
I'm a professional entomologist/invertebrate specialist and so also always use latin names, less room for confusion. A while ago some government idiots insisted that all insects which are referred to in their publications should have English names so that the public would find them easier. This caused a few joke names to be produced, so now a whirligig beetle called Gyrinus urinator is known as The Artist.
Little kids learn long dinosaur names easily, but many adults seem to struggle with easier ones for fish etc.
-
ok i will remove it
-
So we need another G and also carrying on at J. Hmmm, pity, the first J that springs to mind is a Latin name.......
But G is for guppy ;D
-

-
U
Am I allowed uaru? I know it's part of the latin name but it's also the common name.
If I am, V is next. Round 1 was Vietnamese cardinal minnow so that can't be used in this round.
-
uaru is the name there known as in the shop it is there
common name ;)
-
No takers for V?
OK, V = violet goby
(So no-one suggests it this time, the last W was white spot tetra)
-
But i just found W !!!!!!!!!!! = White-Finned Synodontis
-
sorry fishcake
-
Actually, Fishcake can have white finned syndontis.
I put the bit in brackets in my post, white spot tetra, as it was the W in round 1 so no-one used it in round 2. Saves me going back to see what W was last time.
If it causes confusion, I'll check backwards instead :-[
-
So we're onto X? How about Xingu Cory :fishy1:

"Why ask the....what?"
It was just a name that popped in to my head, couldn't remember if it was a proper name or one I had made up??? :-\
if you could have checker barb ???
-
Oh.
-
You guys have your wires crossed me thinks!!!!!
Resa, you asked if you could have checkered barb and biff said yes if it wasnt in the last round. You asked if he thought you were blind because of him using larger font and not, as biff thought, because you had already seen checkered barb had not been used.
Make sense???
I only interfere because it takes long enough looking up the last answers without all the extra posts!!!!!! :D ;)

-
TA FISHCAKE

So we are up to E, aren't we? But not endler or elephant nose as they've already gone.

-
G - Green Terror
-
H is for hag fish
-
Can we assume that we are all bored of this game now???
Lets start a new one!!! ;D
Erm... I thought of fantasy fish tank, where we each think of a piece of decor, then a plant, then fish for our ideal tank. First we have to agree on size of tank and substrate.
Not sure if it would work tho?? :o
Any other ideas? Or are we all far to grown up and have adequately fulfilling lives to not need to play games on a forum!!!! ;)
