mollie dying?

hi, for the past 6 days or so one of my pair of dalmation mollies has been acting poorly.
at one point it was a bit sluggish apart from feeding time when it feeds normally.
then it was at the bottom corner of the tank thrashing its tail for a good while like it was giving birth.
since then it has been swimming around with the other dalmation mollie but appears to have a bent spine. sometimes it will clamp its fins and at times become a bit withdrawn then perks up a lot especially at feeding time.
one of my platys acted like this a while back and i noticed some fry in the tank.
the platy is now fine, all other fish are doing ok.
any idea whats up with the mollie?

i have decided to separate it in case it spreads to the others.
it is rather thin, having difficulty swimming due to its curved spine.

One possibility- how hard is your water? Mollies can suffer if they are in soft water.

Though a curved spine can mean a birth deformity or an internal infection.

Hi Evan,

I am currently treating a suspected parasitic infection and I have bought some waterlife parazin. Haven't used it yet but reviews on other forums look good and it treats internal and external parasites.   Link below:

Hope that helps but sure one of the more experienced members will know!!

Sounds like it was a parasite so it's worth treating the water
