Title: Meds from Amazon
Post by: Fiona on July 07, 2015, 07:21:45 PM
I just thought I'd let the UK folks know that meds we can't buy in this country in LFS ect are available to buy from amazon.

I've just got my delivery of Seachem Focus and Metroplex. It took ages to arrive and was posted from America

Is there any problem with customs?

When I was looking for Sera Nematol most of the sellers on Ebay were in Germany which, being in the EU, had no problems.

The two products mentioned by Fiona are antibiotics and their importation is illegal. Fiona may have escaped the notice of Her Majesties stormtroopers but, if they notice, your goods may be impounded and further, legal action may be taken.

Yes. Seriously. Antibiotics are available in this country only by prescription. For the stuff you are using that would require a vet. However, I doubt that they are going to lock you up and throw away the key for a couple of bottles of fish medicine.

You assume that because it's available to buy on amazon that its actually safe and legal to do so. We wont be doing that again!

It's a bit like bettas sold on overseas websites (mainly USA and far east). They don't tell you that you have to use an importer as a middle man which drastically increases the cost. Failure to do this usually results in the betta being impounded and destroyed at customs.
