So my Aqua Nano 40 (55L) has been without a light since Tuesday this week because it broke, so been over to the local MHA today to get a new light and while I was there I've seen a little cave. Thought that would be nice for my Apistogramma agassizii (1M 2F) and hoped this may encourage some breeding! Got home fitted the light, popped the cave in and 10mins later my female agassizii is bright yellow and chasing other fish away. Looks like during the period of darkness (without the cave) they have raised some fry which are swimming about with their mum.
.I will try to post some photos sometime soon!

great news! i have a trio of aggazzis apistos too.
from their behaviour they seem to have spawned a few times but no fry have hatched.
they really are beautiful fish.

Some cichlids eat their eggs the first few times, especially if the parents haven't been reared by their parents ( ie the breeder took the eggs away from the parents) They do get the hang of it eventually.
