Guppy's or Barbels?

The Guppies seemed very tempting in the fish shop, very colourful would really light up the tank. :) Only thing was the last ones I bought didn't fair to well only lasting about six weeks. >:( I mentioned this to the shop and they said its to do with the breeding and how they make them with attractive colours. Its the luck of the draw as to how long they last. So I opted for the Barbules instead.

One thing I noticed the Guppy's weren't very sociable didn't seem to get on with the Tetra's. Were the Barbles do, perking up the Tetras they all seem to be very happy, :fishy1: well so far anyway.

Hi Sue, just had to check on this website for spec they appear to be Golden Barbell's. They are gold with a black line from centre of head to tail.

Gold barbs are fine in a community tank. Just wanted to make sure you hadn't got tiger barbs or something as aggressive as them  ;)

Golden barbs need water a bit cooler than most fish, so try to aim for something that all your fish are happy with.

tiger barbs arnt too bad as long as you keep them in a group of 7 or more,
i have 7 in my tank and they don't bother any of my other fish, they just play in there own little group.( most days there just doing a conga line around my rockwork. )

I've always had problems with tiger barbs, gold barbs definitely the better option
