Cycling - The process of populating your tank and filter with the bacterial colonies that convert the nitrogenous poisons into form that is less toxic.
Fishless Cycling - Generally considered the most humane method, adding a source of Ammonia to kickstart the process. Only after the tank has cycled will fish be added.
Fish-in Cycling - With fish in the tank, using the fish-waste and excess food to provide the Ammonia that feeds the bacterial colonies
