Title: Amano Shrimps Destroy Taiwan
Post by: TigzFish on April 09, 2013, 09:27:06 PM
It's ok, there's no invasion of giant Amano Shrimps from the planet glugg-glugg taking out a whole country... though it could be a good b-movie idea...

Overnight my small gang of 9 Amano's have taken it upon themselves to form an army, and have successfully chomped away at my Nymphoides sp. ''Taiwan'' [link (http://www.tropica.com/en/plants/plantdescription.aspx?pid=041B)].  I have had no choice but to cut back what remains and chase off the attackers with bribes of catfish pellets.

How dare they!  This is treason!  ;D

Wow - that's impressive. You must have some very fat shrimps now. ;D

Shame though, that was a good looking plant..... and after all you've done for your shrimps, too. :(

However; I can't help feeling relieved that I got Cherry Shrimps rather than Amanos, I have enough trouble with plants as it is without them being chomped. *phew*

Your photo make me glad I've only got java fern, anubia and salvinia in the tank with my amanos. They haven't touched those plants.

Wow!  In one night???  They've got some choppers, haven't they? ;D
It is a shame though....I liked that plant a lot.

Taiwan will rise again.

According to form, Amano's like soft plants, but I know from experience already they are quite adept at destroying harder constructed plants too.  :(

They go bonkers for algae wafers will fight each other for Catfish Pellets, so I will have to increase their treat suppliments to try and stop them from hungering for plants. Maybe my battes with the abundance of algaes in the tank has reduced the readily availble food source to a level that has triggered their veggie-fest.

There did not appear to be any other midnight munching going on when I left for work this morning, but I popped in some catfish pellets to keep them quiet for a bit.
