Title: What websites for aquarium supplies?
Post by: shivyDevon on February 25, 2015, 05:59:18 PM
So what website do people use for their aquarium supplies? I need to get in an order in for some supplies (dechlorinator, plant ferts, hikari food etc) and I wondered what was the best site to use or do you just go to your LFS for supplies?

Thanks

I go to one of various LFS for things they stock. If I can't find it in a real shop, I use Ebay.

The dechlorinator I use comes from a not terribly local shop, but then one bottle does last ages.
I have a bottle of plant trace elements that I also got from a real shop.
I use Hikari shrimp food, which I get from Ebay, and if it is on there when I need new betta food I get Atisons but failing that Hikari betta pellets.
New Life Spectrum flakes and pellets also come from Ebay.

Hi,

I tend to shop around on line. I google shop whatever i'm looking for and then buy the cheapest!!!!  ;)

I do occasionally buy from real shops but generally only MA and PAH, although I will never buy fish from PAH as in our local branch the tanks are usually full of dead or dying fish.  :(

I buy everything from EBay, it's much cheaper than LFS even allowing for post, and usually arrives in one or two days.

The website I use is Seapets. I do shop around a bit, but usually go back to Seapets, as they are reasonably priced and convenient. I've had fantastic customer service from them in the past so also have some loyalty.

If I'm not ordering enough to justify the postage, I get consumables from my local MA (my preferred LFS), and if I'm desperate, from PaH as they're closer.

I now only buy fish from one MA store.

I'm like Helen, seapets has been very good to me. Always a quick delivery even with the free postage. I also use my local MA. The staff there are brilliant and I like the idea of spending my money in local businesses.

I've found ebay or amazon are usually cheaper than MA, my API testing kit is £30 in MA but I've managed to source them on ebay for about £20

Does anyone buy plants online? Been looking at doing so just would like to make sure they arrive in good condition and not damaged from any journey. My LFS is really good but if it is lacking in one thing it is plant choices.

There's an ebay shop called watermarque that has a good selection of plants at reasonable prices. They offer free shipping too. I haven't bought plants from them, but got a cracking deal on 5 nerites, an MTS and a devil snail, all for about 6 pounds! They arrived promptly and well packaged too.

I bought all of my plants from EBay from Premier Aquarium Plants. They were very good quality and cheap. They import fresh plants every week and send them out to customers after each new batch arrives and so they are very fresh.

Thanks guys this is really helpful! I will make sure I check them all out! I have ordered plants from an eBay seller before and the majority of them are still going in my tank but I don't think the seller operates anymore.

I get my plants from Seapets as well. They sell Tropica plants, which are good quality. I got snails in my tank when I bought plants from another website. (I am currently waiting on an order) :)
