Hi everyone

Am just after some advice as looking at setting up a second tank and was wondering the difference between using sand or crushed coral and which is better to use

Thanks

Crushed coral will make your water much harder, not advised at all unless you actually want that e.g. for Malawi cichlids (or a marine tank).

Rift Lake cichlids need very hard alkaline water so unless you have that coming out of your taps or are prepared to add Rift Lake salts at every water change, I would give them a miss.

So you need plain ordinary sand.
