Title: Stocking for a 37 litre tank
Post by: Rustle on February 18, 2018, 02:44:19 PM
I no longer need a shrimp tank as my tangerines tigers are breeding in my main tank. I don't really want to be over run by shrimp so I am thinking of putting some fish in there now.

I need some advice what fish would be suitable if any for 37 litre love fish panoramic tank. It does say 40 litre on the box but it says 37 on the back.

Size   53 × 41 × 31

That depends on how hard your water is.

The easy answer is a single betta, male or female.

Otherwise -
Very soft water - a shoal of any of the Boraras species  http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/search/boraras

Soft to middling water - a shoal of ember tetras or a shaol of Microdevario kubotai http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/microdevario-kubotai/  (often sold as neon green rasboras or green tetras)

Hard water - a group of endlers livebearers

These small shoaling fish do better with a group of 10+; endlers, being non-shoaling, can get away with less than that.

Correction on tank size after actually measuring it myself and not going by what it says on the box.

W.48 H .32  D.25 cms

PH 7.5  DGH 10

I am guessing the only suitable fish would be a betta

It would make a very good betta home.
If you have hard water you could manage half a dozen male endlers. No females.
If you have very soft water, 10 of one of the species of Boraras. These tend to be wild caught, and wild caught fish are less tolerant of water parameters outside their normal range. And with these fish the tank would need to have a lot of plants, real or fake.

Thank's sue, One other option could be pygmy cory's according to aquadvisor or do you think they need more space if they do then i think i am looking at a betta, but would have loved ember tetras or neon green rasboras but it looks like they need a minimum  53cm long tank.

Pygmy cories are just about OK in that tank, though it might look a bit boring with just them. And all three of the dwarf cories need at least 10 of them, and sand on the bottom rather than gravel.

I would not have cories and a betta because betta's need a temp of 27-ish while cories need it under 25.
