bit of a odd question but it seems that when i planted my tank up the weekend i may have introduced a snail or two , caught it last night after chasing it round loosing it finding it again , but was wondering what do people do with them once they have caught them.

There are two choices with snails in the aquarium; leave them be. If their numbers get out of control, buy a couple of assassin snails; or catch them and kill them. The only other choice is to release them outdoors. This is illegal, immoral and just plain lunacy....

There is a third alternative - if they are very small, crush them. The fish will enjoy the meal.

Ahh, in that case just remove them and squash them. Then when you have fish you can give them their meal.

You'll find that the snails will survive the cycle quite nicely. It is the snails we want to have in the tank that die from ammonia/nitrite poisoning, the pest ones seem to thrive  >:(

well after reading many a post here about pest snails when i first saw this one i was right you have to go which then led to the great snail chase around the tank ( iam sure the little devil was laughing at me as he managed to keep escaping from me only to pop back up on a bit of glass right next to me ) till he made his fatal mistake and traped himself in the corner when i got him and killed it , the only problem was i sat at the tank for ages trying to see if there was more and lost out on my beauty sleep (which i need alot of ) and now I am grumpy to my employees all morning (guess i better buy the afternoon custard creams as a apology)  :vcross: to pest snails

Hey Colin, haven't you heard? Sugar is bad for you. Why don't you try some nice escargot?  :rotfl:
