Title: Sailfin Molly
Post by: Paul T 85 on August 24, 2013, 05:37:24 PM
Hi all
I have recently introduced 2 small clown plecs to my 125 litre tank , at first things were fine but recently I have noticed that when they are busy chomping on the wood in the tank my Sailfin molly Bruce chases the until they hide under the wood, is there anything I can do to stop this?

how recently did you add them? If it is only a few days, the molly could settle down. If it's a few weeks, you might have a problem. Are there any other mollies in the tank besides Bruce?

There is one more female Molly I was considering adding a second to see if that helped , I added them about a week ago .

If you have just one female and one male molly, you do need another female. At least one more. Male livebearers chase females constantly and can harass then to death. With more females than males, each female gets time off while he chases another.
And having another female(s) in the tank, it may give the male something new to chase besides the plecs.

There are rogue individuals in all species of fish. If it turns out your male molly is one of those and he gets worse with the plecs, you may have to rehome him.
