Returning items to MA...

Hi all,

Has anyone tried returning items to Maidenhead Aquatics without a receipt? Being aware of my new found passion for fishkeeping my parents very kindly bought me a tank for Christmas. Unfortunately it's too small (8L). I thought about using it as a QT but think it's too small for that, and to make things worse it has carbon in the cartridge filters it uses. It really is a beautiful tank, but I know its too small for my needs.

I don't want to upset my folks by asking for the receipt. Fortunately they left the price tag on and so I know i'ts from MA. Do you think I could return it and upgrade to a larger tank or get store credit for something else without the receipt?

Well unless they never visit I assume they will find out eventually. I would just be honest, I'm sure they would understand and it will save any awkward situations later. I have a good relationship with my local MA and I'm sure they would swap it for me in the same situation so I guess it depends on how well they know you.  :)

Good point WR... though they don't visit that often! Very thoughtful gift in all fairness...

How about using it as a propagator for tank plants? Or even as a cacti thingy?

Hiya,

I think MA should accept it back if you explain it's an wanted gift but I agree with the other replies, either explain to your parents that it is a bit too small for purpose or think if something else to do with it!

Great idea Richard! My wife would love that!!

Thanks for all the advice. In the end I decided to keep the tank. I'll transfer my shrimp and snails into it and treat the main tank for worms. The chap at MA said that it was probably best to treat the whole tank anyway.
