I'm thinking of adding some red rainbow fish to my tank as my local store has some in and the rest are beautiful, has anyone any experience with these, are they fin nippers? I only want a small group, say 3 how will this affect there behavior?

Info on red rainbowfish Glossolepis incisus -
Active swimmers so need a tank at least 120 cm/48 inches long
Need a pH over 7 and hardness of 10 to 20 deg (179 to 356 ppm)
Shoaling species, needs a group of 6 to 8

They are not known as fin nippers but their active swimming will stress any slow swimming fish in the tank.
They need to be in a bigger group than 3. Their DNA is programmed for them to live in large groups, so keeping  less than 6 to 8 will stress them out.

And stressed fish means fish that easily get sick.

The fish profile said min number of two, I thought that sounded a bit odd which is why I checked, thanks for the quick response

To be honest the fish profiles on here are a bit out of date and/or incorrectly written many years ago (errors do occur in even the best sources  :) ). There are plans afoot to update them but it is a slow, laborious task.

Note: The user may not necessarily own these fish, these are tanks that they may be building or researching for stocking purposes
