I know nothing about baby kribs, but is it possible that they need to be in a group and the stress of being just 2 of them affected them?
You don't mention problems with the remaining fry - the difference between these two and the rest is that they were alone and they were in a different tank. One of these things has to be the cause, and if it is the tank you need to know what before moving more fry in there.

Crossed my mind as well that they may have been too stressed out from being isolated and not in a big group. I'll do a check on all conditions/parameters in the tank today, if all good then I'll side with being in low numbers as a contributing cause.
