The only safe way to get it out will mean destroying the net, I'm afraid.

Fill a container with tank water (old ice cream tubs are ideal for this for future use) and lower the net plus fish into that. Then using the sharpest scissors you have, clip the net as close as you dare to the fish. If you need to hold the fish, use a paper towel (wet with the water in the container) to avoid direct contact. Watch the fish as it may try to jump as it becomes freer.
It may be possible to remove every last trace of net, but if you can't you'll have to hope that any remaining bits get scraped off by some decor as the fish will immediately run and hide when moved from the container into the tank.

The safest way to move loaches and catfish is in a cup of some sort rather than a net. As you have discovered, they have spines which catch in nets. Old yoghurt pots are good for this.

Hope everything goes OK for the loach.
And welcome to forum

Hi there and welcome to the forum.
I have a set of plastic containers of various sizes that I use for transferring some of my fish, and a larger tub for moving my axolotls. My betta has been upgraded to larger tanks so many times that he will swim into a tub without any fuss, bless him.
Best of luck with your loach and please keep us updated on the situation.

You really need to cut the net.  A loach that can swim around with some net stuck to it is going to be a lot less stressed than being completely trapped in the net like it is at the moment.

And, as Sue says, there's a good chance it will come away once the loach is mobile again.

It really can't stay in the net much longer or the stress will kill it.

All you can do now is give it time.

Because its skin could have been damaged by the net and loaches are bottom dwelling fish make sure you keep the tank floor nice and clean and do plenty of extra water changes. Clean water and substrate is the best aid to recovery.

Great news. Glad he's got rid of the net and that he seems ok.
I'm sure he'll start to fatten up a bit over the next few weeks.
Well done for resolving a difficult situation.  :)
