Title: Kribensis and amano shrimp
Post by: Dominika on October 18, 2015, 01:29:27 PM
I was considering getting a pair of kribensis but I'm not sure they'd be ok with my amano shrimps. Has anyone had any experience with that combination?

My tank is AquaOne 850 (165 l) with trickle down filter in the hood. Current stock:

3 amano shrimps
1 bamboo shrimp
13 rummy noses
2 honey gouramis
1 pearl gourami
2 rams
4 peppered cories (I'll up the number to 7 in two weeks' time)
30ish assassin snails (hard to count as they bury themselves under the sand)

Will kribensis be alright in my tank, do you think? Or rather, will the other tank inhabitants be alright?

Any input will be appreciated.

I have had a pair of kribs and they are very territorial if they spawn.
I personally wouldn't have the kribs with the shrimps in fear of them getting attacked.
Kribs tend to dwell at the bottom and middle of the tank so I'd be weary of anything that is a bottom feeder with them.

Thanks for your advice. I'd rather not risk casualties. Back to the drawing board :)

I have had apistogrammas and amano shrimps in the same tank. When they bred they weren't as aggressive as Alex's kribs and didn't harm the amanos or any other tank mates.
Something for you to add to your list of possible replacements for kribs.

Oooh, these are really nice. Thanks a lot for suggesting them. I'll do a bit more research.
