I Can't Find Ammonia Anywhere!

I spent four hours today looking for ammonia... I got other stuff done in the process but basically I have almost given up hope of finding pure 100% ammonia.

The closest I got was in The Range and on the back it listed Hazardous Ingredients as Ammonia and less then 5% Non-ionic surfactant, whatever that is. I assume this product is useless??? Please help me someone. It's listed on B&Q website but my local one doesn't have it.

Yes, quite right to avoid ammonia with non-ionic surfactant (a type of detergent).

Is there a Homebase left near you? They used to sell it in the home cleaning section.
Do you have a local DIY shop? There's one in my town that sells everything you can imagine, including Jeyes Kleen Off Household Ammonia.
Do you have an Ebay or Amazon account? They both sell Kleen Off ammonia (be careful, there is a Kleen Off range, don't get anything else, eg the oven cleaner like someone did by mistake.....)
Ebay also sells this though you'll have to be careful with the dosage (for 200 litres you'd need 1.7 ml)

Since you want to plant the tank and wait until you know the plants haven't started to die off, you do have a week or two to get some on-line if necessary.

You can add ammonia straight away but dead and dying plants decompose to make ammonia which can make your results hard to understand.
Plants also use ammonia as food so that combined with the mature media you hope to get will make the cycle go faster.

Don't forget to get the mature media only once you are about to add ammonia, whether that's as soon as the bottle arrives, or once you know the plants are OK.
