Clown Loach fighting

Hi there, I have one clown loach on his own for about 7 months, tried putting another one with him as I know they do well in groups but he was chased constantly for a week. So i took him back, this was about 4 months ago. I though it was about time I tried again but this time put two in as the min group size i found out was 3 (unless the internet are lying) as now I have read that 5 is the min number? My original loach is still chasing the two new ones after 5 days. They are all the same size, water parameters are fine and there is loads of space as they are in a 125 galon with only one blue acara. They are all just under 3 inches. Should I get two more and see if this mellows things out? I know that the original loach is asserting its dominance but when does this ritual end! Lol Any help would be appreciated... :-\

It could be that the original one has been on its own so long it is treating the new ones as invaders. But they really are better in groups so I would suggest getting some more. Even if the original is still aggressive, with more new ones it should soread out the aggression so no one fish gets a lot of unwanted attenstion.

Can I just check - the minimum tank size for clowns long term is one with a footprint of at least 180 x 60cm. If yours is smaller than that, you'll need to upgrade eventually or rehome the loaches.

I thought that might be the case. No one has greyed out yet tho so im assuming the alpha loach is still up for grabs haha My tank is 5 foot long by 2foot wide by 2 foot high so should be ok for 5 loaches and no more prob.
