Title: Best substrate for a shrimp tank?
Post by: dbaggie on September 20, 2014, 04:48:26 PM
Hi all

Whilst I do have a couple of Amano shrimp in my community tank, I'm considering setting up a small dedicated shrimp tank as well. As such I'm just wondering whether anyone has any advice as to the best type of substrate to use?

I'll not be keeping anything specialist, probably just something of the cherry shrimp family or perhaps some crystal shrimp.

Cheers

I don't think there is any substrate that is bad for shrimps. I have my cherries on sand; they do spend ages picking over it so from personal preference I'd say sand. Gravel would probably do as well though.

Thanks Sue, I didn't think the substrate would make too much difference for Shrimp but it's always worth checking.
