So I got impatient (yes I know!) and added water to my tank, before sourcing any decent plants or getting my mature filter media from MA.
The plants in already are cuttings from a friend's tiny tank, the plants were taking over in there.
Bottom substrate is garden soil, top is from MA and is called grey sand. Sticks are dried out heather branches. Cave is a plant pot.

We never really talked about this in your posts about substrate. It applies to things like rocks and roots too; They go on the bottom! Sorry we just sneaked this one in at the end, but it sort of seemed obvious at time; Mea Culpa! :rotfl:
