Our Tank

Here's our tank 2 weeks in. The plants are all real this time, and I hope to gradually slip some more in without the kids noticing! Bikini Bottom is the rear left corner, The Dead Land is between the wreck and the skeleton, Mermaid Land is to the right in front of the filter, and Legendary Corner is the treasure chest and planted area behind it. The tank doesn't have a background, so the dinosaur isn't in the tank, it's just on the breakfast bar behind the tank!
Present occupants are 4 rummy nose tetras, 3 harlequin rasboras, 3 glow light danios, 1 cherry barb, and at least 1 cherry shrimp. Once the tank has settled I intended to get the fish back to their shoal numbers again, although the cherry barb has always been a loner so I might leave her on her own (she never showed any interest in the other cherry barbs when we had them.
We used to have a betta which my son managed to kill by tipping a whole and very large tub of flake food into the tank. For a while it looked like a snow globe in there. I'd like another betta, but the kids are mad about dwarf African frogs. Anyone have these? How do they affect fish stocking levels? Also, we have soft acidic water. Would this effect them?
