My new Trigon 190 finally finished cycling over the weekend so it was off to the fish shop today  :fishy1:

I managed to get the 8 Ruby Barbs I wanted but unfortunately there were no Dwarf Rainbows. Instead I picked up 8 Green Tiger Barbs, wow these little guys are really something.

Anyway here's a few pic's

They all seem to be settling in well.

Here's another piccy of my Ancistrus in my smaller tank, he/she's looking a lot better now the tail's grown back after being a bit nibbled when I bought him/her

Nice looking barbs. And you have a good number of each so they shouldn't cause too many problems to your future fish. If the tigers do prove to be a bit nippy, just get more of any of the three colours.

Thank you  :)

Yes, I wouldn't mind a few of the normal ones now. I'm planning a plec or two and maybe some Yo Yo loaches when the tank matures a bit so nothing with fancy fins so I'm hoping they'll all get along.

Congratulations! You've got great looking fish and these are great pictures! I've got a soft spot for the Green tigers, I'm sure I'll get them one day :) I've been thinking about Ruby barbs also, but have never seen them in shops. Pictures usually show them quite dark coloured so I'm quite surprised how pale they look in your tank. I expect they will colour up once they settle in. I also think Odessa barbs look great.

That could be a pretty lively tank with both Ruby and Tiger barbs. I've just had to move one of my male Rubies into a different tank because he was getting bullied by the more dominant ones and his tail was badly bitten. They never stop chasing each other around.

Can I ask how the Tiger and Ruby barbs interact Gav?

I've been delighted with my Tiger barbs and will probably add a few more. But I have thought about Rubies too.

Sure  :) They've only been in a couple of days and I haven't had much chance to watch them yet but they all seem to be getting on fine. They were in different tanks in the shop but were all added at the same time into my tank so that might help. Also the Rubys are a bit bigger than the Tigers.

I'm hoping it really will be a lively tank but I'm not sure exactly what else to put in there. I was thinking of Yo Yo loaches and maybe a nice plec. Decisions decisions......  :D

Thanks Gav, I hope you'll post further updates.

I thought about Yoyo loaches too. But it seemed that a group of six or more was necessary as they matured. I looked at a part grown Clown loach at my lfs, I decided six full grown Yoyos were a bit much too much of the tank for for me. Good luck if you go for them though, they do seem a great fish.

No problem. I'll keep this thread updated as to how they get on but after watching them for a while last night the Tigers seem more interested in chasing one another about and the two male rubys, which have darkened up a lot, stick to chasing the female rubys. Great fun to watch  ;D
