My Community Tank

As my tank is now fully mature after setting it up towards the end of last year, and almost fully stocked (I'm still keeping my eye out for a few more additions!) I thought I'd bob a pic on. The picture isn't the best as I took it on my phone but it gives you an idea 

I've gone for a relatively wide variety of smaller fish rather than a lower number of larger fish as I wanted to create movement throughout the tank - the largest I have are a couple of Mollies and a Dwarf Gourami with the smallest being my Celestial Pearl Danios/Galaxy Rasboras and my (newly added) Panda Cory's.

I've also gone with a reasonably well planted look and I tend to leave the plants to their own devices as much as possible, rather than keeping them neatly manicured.

I have a combination of 3 different types of floating plant; Salvinia (not sure which type exactly, I think natans), Water Lettuce and Frogbit. My favourite is the frogbit as it dangles long roots down into the water which the fish like swimming in and out of.

They all grow like billy-o though - if left alone for 1 or 2 weeks they can easily cover more than half the tank. I try to keep them to about 1/4 of the water surface, that way they don't adversely affect light reaching the lower areas of the tank but still provide a good amount of cover for those fish which like it.
