Looking good!
Fish selection may be dictated by your water conditions to a certain degree (e.g. hardness, pH) but with a tank that size you'll have loads of options regardless!
Temptation may be to go with some large species but something like a huge shoal of Neon/Cardinal Tetra's would look pretty dramatic and would still allow a variety of other fish to be added to the community. Alternatively, how about a shoal (or shoals) or the larger Rainbows such as Boesmani/Lake Kutubu?
You could also consider some of the more unusual species which require larger tanks such as the Black Ghost Knifefish.

Cheers dbaggie. Must agree with you on the shoals idea. I've been lurking in various places taking my time and do like the look of loads of smaller fish. I've took a shine to halequins and penguin tetas my small 130 litre tank has ten amber light tetras in and quite enjoy them. I'm off to a place down the road, tall trees in notts just now to check out some more and see if they have any of your suggested types in.
