In isolation prior to adding to my main tank. Not much colour at the moment but am assured it will come as they get older. Very shy and timid fish these and they don't swim about very much in the isolation tank. Hopefully they will be less timid when they get across to the big tank.

Yes, they will colour up in your tank, or at least the males will. And they'll be less shy. They are a lovely fish. I love the way they hover in the water ;D
I managed to kill a whole shoal of them a few years ago :o Never, ever add melafix and pimafix to a tank with golden pencilfish. I know API deny the internet rumour about these two products and pencilfish. But I treated a tank with an iffy looking gourami and I used both at the same time as I didn't know what was wrong (the bottles say you can). All six were dead within an hour of adding the meds. I don't know if it was the melafix, pimafix or the combination that did the damage, but be warned!
It was after this I started using a hospital tank to treat a sick fish.

Good tip on the meds, I'll have to make a note of that. 8) Thanks Sue.
