Golden Nugget Catfish
We like meme's they're fun, so we're starting a new one called "Fishy Friday" so to kick it off we've selected our fishy friday fish of the week to be the Golden Nugget Plec Catfish (http://www.thinkfish.co.uk/fish/golden-nugget-plec.html)!
The Golden Nugget Plec is one of the more popular and often seen suckermouth catfishes. As with other fish in this group, accurate identification can be difficult and there are several similar looking species, usually with variations in spot size. Golden Nuggets are peaceful and can be kept with most fishes without difficulty. The fish is party nocturnal and should be provided with hiding spots amongst wood. Although primarily an algae eater, they will take some frozen or meatier foods, which should be fed as a small part of their diet along with lots of vegetable/algae based foods. Soft water is preferable.
Family Loricariidae (Armoured catfishes) | Origin South America; Brazil
Help us select next week's fishy friday fish of the week by visiting our fish profile (http://www.thinkfish.co.uk/fish-profiles) and pasting a link to your preference below!
The most popular link selected, will be chosen! In the event of a tie we'll act all dictatorial and pick a winner!

Okke-dokee. My contender for next week's "Fish of the Week" is the Panda Cory (http://www.thinkfish.co.uk/fish/panda-cory.html).

As much as I'm a big fan of Cory's, I've only recently added some Galaxy Rasboras/Celestial Pearl Danios to my tank which means they're flavour of the month for me and get my vote as well! Colourful and characterful little critters ;D
-
No! Don't listen to all these Rasbora numpties; Panda Cories, actually any sort of cory, are the perpetual "FOW"
-
Vote Panda Cory :fishy1:

The Golden Nugget plec is a good-looking fish, no doubt, but it's also one that should come with a warning that it's unsuitable for most people unless they have a big yank.

Sorry my typing's wild today, a big TANK!!

If you already know about this then please forgive me for pointing it out. You can edit your posts to fix spelling mistakes. Along the top of the little box your post gets put in there should be three items, "Remove" "Quote" and "Modify". If you click on the modify one it will let you edit the mistake and save it.
Saying that, thank you for leaving the "big YANK" in; best laugh of the day :rotfl:

Difficult to argue with that piccy........looks like the galaxies will need to wait for their 15 minutes of fame!
Meanwhile, I'm off to get some panda's
-
Come in to the light O:-)
-
Wow!! Totally outnumbered!!
Come on dbaggie we must create as many pseudonyms as possible and get our lovely rasboras their rightful place as FOW!!
There must be someone else out there who loves rasboras!!?
Come on folks, join me in the rasbora corner!

OK... to be serious... just for a minute (Honest!).
Perhaps we could make FOW an opportunity to increase the species available on Fish Profiles by suggesting fishes that could be added to the profiles.

OK. How about Bronze Corys?? ;D ;D
-
I thought I'd put my money where my mouth is and go and 'rescue' five Panda Corys. However, they're still acclimatising and some of them weren't looking too well, Pandas should be black and white - not pink and a bit furry :yikes:..... so I left with 10litres of RO water instead. :'(

Sorry for bringing this thread back down to earth ;)

Sounds like a good idea to me - anyone know how often to the profiles usually get updated?
