I wanted to share some of the photos I've taken of my fish and thought I would start a new thread where anyone who feels like it can post their FFPs!!!!
Here are mine!!
Look forward to seeing other peoples!!!

Another one!!
Very hard to get a decent picture of her as she is so small and can be damn quick when she wants!!!

Love the pictures fishcake 76! I can't get anything but a coloured blur with my lot – they move so quickly that they're zooming out of sight just as I press the button. Still, I suppose that means they're healthy!? I'll never make a living as a photographer though. :)

Lovely fish fishcake! Love the CPD photo! Whilst we had the platies at my work I discovered what lovely fish they are - so inquisitive and friendly... just pooping machines!
When I first got my fish I made this:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/jessboon/Allfishwithnames_zpsc2d4b3c0.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/jessboon/media/Allfishwithnames_zpsc2d4b3c0.jpg.html)
Unfortunately the only remaining fish I still have are Holly, Bob and Scutter. I now have three blonde endlers and one 'shocking pink' endler called Bow... oh and my random fish called Oz I got from the Aquajardin with my shrimp which I'm ashamed to admit in my worst act of fish keeping I plan on leaving in my tank!
I just witnessed one of my cherry shrimps attempting to ride my assassin snail James Bond too!
-
They are super pics Jesnon!!! So amazing, all their different markings!! I'm planning on getting some more CPDs to keep Raspberry company and some endlers and possibly more corys.
My corys are really camera shy and I've yet to get a pic that isn't a spotty blur!!!! Watch this space!!!!!

Great piccies. I've given up trying to get any pictures of mine - I'm totally rubbish at photography.
-
Thanks fishcake! Ooh you'll love endlers they really are lovely little fish and as you say so many different patterns and colours! Hopefully you can capture a photo of your corries!
I've been trying to get a photo of my newer fish but so far no luck!
-
When I get a new SD card for my DSLR I will take some proper photos of my fish. Until then...
-
Golly Puffin - he's a handsome chap!!!!! What a monster!! ;D
I managed to get some semi-decent pics of the corys today as well - I have such an interesting life!!!!! ;D So here are Bert and Ernie.
You can see Ernie, who I think is female, taking one of her sorties to the top of the tank - they go all over the place!!!! In the picture of them together Bert (male - I think) is closest to the camera and Ernie is furthest away. I read you can tell the sexes by the lengths of the pectoral and dorsal fins (females being longer) though Bert's barbels seem a lot longer than Ernie's, not sure if that means anything?! Ernie definitely has slightly duller colouring than Bert, is less patterned and is plumper.

Lovely pics.
The monster fish in my photo is in the hot house pond in Roath park, Cardiff. There are several of them that size, I'd say about a foot and a half long. The kids love it in there.
-
I do like the cories fishcake - what type are they? I'm thinking about getting some for my new tank :)
-
Oooh, have they got a pond in Roath Park hothouse now? 40 years ago there wasn't one, just banana plants etc. I used to love it in there even without a pond! I was a student at what was then called University College, Cardiff in the 1970s and for 2 years lived in Ninian Rd not quite opposite the hothouse.
-
I think I've posted this before, but this is one of my favourite fish pics :)
-
That's a lovely photo dbaggie!! Discus are beautiful but my tanks are both too small - maybe in the next tank!!!!
My cories are peppered cories Diz (is it cories or corys???). There are so many types available. I was at the LFS today and saw some called Schwartz's Cories (corydoras schwartzi). They are lovely but they get to 7cm which is too big for my tank. A good website to look at for cories on is planet catfish.
My visit to the LFS was interesting. I was planning to get some endlers but when I got there, there were about 7 dead fish in the bottom of the tank. I asked the chap how long they'd had them and he said about a week but he didn't know why they were dying. I decided against them as they were £2.45 each and I wasn't going to spend £25 on fish that might die.
After scouring the tanks and sitting in the coffee shop to do some research I settled on 10 glowlight tetras and 2 otocinclus. They are currently settling in to the quarantine tank but photos will follow!!!!! ;D
Sadly, my CPD died overnight. I think the move to the big tank (and possibly the water change I did on Monday) was too much for her. :(

Sorry to hear about your CPD fishcake - they're very attractive fish but, as you say, maybe the move was too much.
I was at my LFS today - no cories till next week, so I came away with3 cherry barbs. They're all settled in now and getting acquainted with my 8 silver tip tetras and 2 platies. Think I'll build up to 6 of these, then think about the cories.
Will try to post some pictures soon, but I'm not a natural photographer, so it may take many attempts! :)

Discus are beautiful but my tanks are both too small - maybe in the next tank!!!!
It's actually a male Dwarf Gourami, but I can see that the top-to-bottom stripes do resemble the pattern of some Discus ;D. They also stay quite a bit smaller than Discus.
I also managed to get a good shot of one of my male Dwarf Rainbows this afternoon (he seemed to be in a posing mood!):

-
Damn it!!!! I knew I should have checked my assumption on the discus!!!!!! Lol!!! ;D Never mind!! Your dwarf rainbow is stunning and you're right - what a poser!!! :P
Looking forward to your pics Diz - you can guarantee that for every pic I post there are about 40 others that were rubbish!!! I just love watching my fish so much and have now started keeping my camera in my hand whenever I do a spot of 'fishing'!!!! :))

i`ll try and get a picture but the panda corys are great funny little fish
-
Just had a fun but frustrating ten mins trying to get a photo of any if my fish. Got some ok ish ones, but it's a good job I didn't make any effort to pursue a career as a wildlife photographer!
Oh and I can't upload them as iPad and cannon aren't compatible! :(
-
My shy fishies.

Just when you think you've got the hang of this photo posting....... :rotfl:
Great piccies, though.
-
Wow Puffin!!! Your tank looks amazing!!!! Beautiful photos!!!
My new fish are still settling so I've left them alone regarding photos but I did have to do a short video last night of them throwing a pleco tablet around!!!! (I'll post it at some point but it was dark because the tank lights were off so not sure how good it is).
I gave the corys a PT this morning as well but unfortunately Goldie my Platy is rather partial to them. When I couldn't find him a bit later on I had a good search and there he was in the bottom of the barrel ornament with a stomach the size of a marble!!!!!! He's looking thinner now but he was very reluctant to swim!!!! :rotfl:

Some fish can be terrible pigs ;D And platies do like their veggies.
Do make sure you give the cories some non-veggie, non-algae food as well as they prefer a meaty food.

My Corys love a bit of bloodworm (frozen or live) - it usually sinks straight to the bottom as well, often giving the Corys first dibs :)

my cichlid and a couple of my pandas

Aarrgghh!

Wow Puffin!!! Your tank looks amazing!!!! Beautiful photos!!!
Thanks, I certainly think they are happy in there with all that vegetation.

Looks good to me.

Hi,
Let me introduce Stanley!!!
As you can see i have got me a betta!!!!
He is gorgeous and was really showing off in the shop, hence why i chose him. I stood and talked to all the bettas for ages and he was the most lively and interactive. I just adore him.
He was a bit withdrawn yesterday (i got him on thursday) but today is swimming around happily and coming to see whats going on!!
I also got some minnows to keep him company and they seem to be ignoring each other, which is better than the alternative!!!
My only worry is he Stanley hasn't eaten yet - at least not that i've witnessed. I've tried very tiny bits of the following and he has a couple of snails to clean up after him!!
Blood worm
Daphnia
Mosquito larvae
Flake
Crushed snail
Pellets
My last hope will be peas!!!!!
Does anyone else have any ideas???

He is gorgeous :)) That's how I choose my bettas - the one that seems to respond best.
Not eating in very common in newly purchased bettas. Especially if the shop has been feeding something different as it can take them a while to realise that what you are putting in the tank is actually food. All you can do is keep adding his staple (which should be betta specific pellets rather than flake which are known to cause problems for bettas), a bit at a time removing the uneaten if his tank mates don't get there first until one day he realises they are food. If he is small (young) and the pellets are large, crush them a bit until he grows enough to manage a whole one. Don't give him too much live food (or frozen live) until he eats the pellets or he'll just turn his nose up and demand the live food. They are a bit like children - if they think they can persuade you to feed them burgers all the time they'll refuse to eat anything else till you give in and get them another burger. Live food for bettas is like that. They taste best of all but not very good for them every meal.
Can I just check what the tank temp is? Bettas can be sluggish and not eat if it's too cold. They need between 25 and 30 dec C.
-
Hi Sue,
Initially i had the tank at 28 deg C but I lowered it to 26 which is what it is currently. He seems to rush towards the food but when he gets there he loses interest?! I guess he'll eat when he's hungry!!

Here is stan saying hi to his snail friends!!!

EDIT : Sorry, you'll all have to stand on your heads!!!! how do you turn them round?????
-
i know, I know, I'm getting boring!!!!!
But.........
Here is Stanley looking at the virtual aquarium on my ipad!!!! He seems to like it and swims to the other side of his tank when he's had enough!!!! ;D
-
Aww, cute! What a good idea about the iPad! Might have to use that when my Betta takes up residence! :)

Hello folks!!
I've read the warning that tells me it's been at least 120 days since this post had a posting and I AM sure I want to reply.
My tank has changed so much since I started! I'd totally forgot what my platys looked like. Bless them!
Here is my tank now. I have got some neon tetras and they have made such a difference to the look of the tank! I've also bought some more plants, which I hope will survive. The chap in the shop said ( yes, I know!) red leaved plants need high light and added carbon dioxide. I didnt let him sell me anything I didnt want as I wanted to check first.
What do the plant experts among you think?

Looks lovely.
[Incidentally, I also have that bridge/tunnel - had bought it ages ago and put it in the tank a couple of weeks ago and the tetras love chasing one another through it while the cories enjoy sleeping under it.]
-
Just thought I'd share a couple of photo's with you all.

Beautiful photos!

Proud parents, ever vigilant. These are the latest, 3rd brood, addition to my tank.
-
Wow - great! [I am so envious of so many people's photography skills - no matter what I do, I just end up with blurs, reflections, lights, etc.]
-
They're the only four decent photo's I have, you should see the amount of blurred ones I have lol.
For the flare on the pictures, turn the flash off. For the blurred ones, take multi shots and hope for the best. Try using a sport mode or downloading one if you're using a camera phone. I use my Samsung S5 mini with a downloaded sport application for my shots.
And above all patience, a helluva lot of patience lol
-
Thanks, Alex - that's definitely helpful. With the x-ray tetras not liking having a tank light on, I only have a table lamp and the main room light to provide light. I think the lack of tank light is part of the problem - and the sport mode on my phone (one model down from yours) makes the pics too dark. The night mode seems the most optimistic but this is the best I've got so far this evening - maybe in a couple of hours' time, I'll have managed to get a better one, I hope!
-
I use a tripod to photograph my fish. I have a bad habit of moving the camera downwards as I press the shutter release button, which adds to the blurriness. The tripod stops that.
I can still use only about 1% of the photos though ;D
-
I only know that stuff as my ex girlfriend, many many moons ago, was a photographer and some of it stuck lol
You might be able to get a software editor that could lighten the pictures. I would have thought so any way.
