Just happen to have noticed this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-35786378 - worth noting for anyone living in this area.

A friend of mine has another fishkeeping friend in another city who had discovered a problem with excessive levels of chlorine on a certain day of the week. She enquired about this, and discovered that chlorine is added to the water supply on a particular day every week, and so she purposefully times her water changes to be on the day prior to that. I use test strips (and liquid testers) but an advantage of test strips is that they contain a chlorine test, so I can always check if the tank water is at the safe level.

I heard that on the news this evening. I've heard of American water companies adding extra chlorine/chloramine after heavy rainfall, but the ST chlorine sounds more like human error.

This hasn't affected Nottinghamshire yet, only affected South Derbyshire, four or five area codes, and one area code in Leicestershire.
I'm from Nottingham, which uses ST so I'll be personally keeping an eye on this.

I have noticed on some days the chlorine smell is more noticeable than others.
