Title: Reuse water?
Post by: Charlotte on February 18, 2018, 11:12:22 AM
Hello all, I'm following a low tech method by Tom Barr where he states not to do water changes and so far it's working fine.
Occasionally I will move some rocks or a piece of wood and there is a build up of detritus that I want to tidy up,what I would like to do is syphon the detritus out and possibly filter the water with filter paper (unbleached) into a bucket and then return the filtered water back in the tank. Does anyone know if the filter paper has any harmful chemicals or even if anyone has done this?

I don't know about using filter paper, but I'm guessing that some fine filter sponge or polyfilter would work, and at least you'd know that the water would be ok to be returned to the tank.

I agree, polyfillter is the way to go.

Thanks for your input, is polyfilter a filter floss?
