Title: Green algae bloom
Post by: Tizme on September 01, 2024, 08:35:51 PM
I just started cycling my tank.  I had let it run for a few days to help the plants. I added first ammonia dose on Thursday.  Today I checked ammonia, and nitrite.
Ammonia is 1.5 ppm
Nitrite is 4 ppm
I checked for nitrate as well
Nitrate 6 ppm
I have algae growing on hardscape, plants and glass.
Is this normal. This is only 3 days.

I think I know where the nitrate came from.... I used a dose of tnc fert a couple of days before I used the first dose of ammonia.  I will reduce my lights to 6 hours and see if that helps with the algae. And no more ferts now the plants are showing growth.

I will remove as much algae as I can by hand till my tank is cycled then do a full clean when I do the big water change

If there is anything else I can do please let me know

Ty in advance
