Title: Adding Aquadur Buffer to raise KH

When you add Aquardor Buffer to raise your KH does it raise your PH it Happens to me Why?

Is it JBL AquaDur which you're referring to? If so, then, looking at its instructions on https://www.jbl.de/?lang=en&mod=download&id=8771, it looks as though PH alters according to the dosage you administer ie if you're administering a certain amount, it might be what is required to stabilise PH at 8-9 for East African cichlids.

It raises pH because that's what these chemicals do. And they raise GH too.


Whenever this type of salts are added to the water to raise GH and KH, they affect the pH of the water as well. Try adding a tiny bit of bicarbonate of soda to a glass of water, and test the pH before and after adding. you'll probably find the 'after' pH is off the top of the scale. Bicarbonate of soda is just once source of carbonate, and it's carbonates that raise the KH.
