Water Test Charts

I'm still compiling a list of new equipment for my next tank, not an easy task with all the new advances since my previous setup. For instance, I had not realise that UV lights can not only remove chlorine from tap water, but can also remove chloramine, as it breaks down the compound to its chlorine/ammonia base.

Anyway, the reason for posting is that I've come across an easy way to check some of those (not so easy) water test colour charts. It's an brand new iPhone, or iPad app that can read the RGB colour code of whatever is placed in front of the camera lens. I've checked it on an API test card and it works, so in theory it should be able to provide readings between some of those quite large differences on some tests.

I don't have any actual water test samples to check at the moment, no tank, no fish, no plants, so I can't confirm if my idea works. However, it does work on Tomatoe ketchup, HP sauce and Soy sauce. ;)

The App is here:- "https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/colorometer/id509865412?mt=8 " and a lot cheaper than the real colorimeters used in lab tests. In fact it's FREE, so if you have an iP** give it a run and see what you think.
