Post by: kdt1 on July 02, 2018, 06:13:31 PM
I want to add some more sand to my tank, I am using white but don't know the make, dose it mater what sand I use and any recommendations.

I don't think it really matters what brand, as long as the sand is suitable, soft & clean (lots of rinsing).
I have previously used JBL Sansibar, mainly because that was what my local shop stocked, but there are lots of brands available.

To be honest, I would add a different colour and try to cover up the white sand. Fish don't like it as white is just too bright and unnatural for fish. Fish have evolved over dark substrates which is why fish look dark when you look down on them.

When you come to add the sand... put it into a drinks bottle and put this in the tank top upwards. When the air has come out, turn the bottle over and let the sand start to fall out... any dirty water should stay in the bottle...
