Title: Submersible pump
Post by: Richard W on December 12, 2013, 11:40:50 AM
While ordering new filters etc online, I discovered that I had made an error and received a submersible water pump instead of one of the filters I wanted. It only cost a few pounds, so no great loss, but since then I have been wondering what exactly these things are used for. I know the uses of an air pump, but a water pump?
Any suggestions?
Richard

They are used to circulate water, especially in heavily planted tanks. When there are a lot of plants, dead spots can form where the water flow from the filter doesn't reach. The use of a powerhead in addition to the filter reduces the chances of dead spots.
