Shifting sand

I've got an irritating problem. My filter is located on the left side of the tank and although I've set the flow as low as possible it seems to be hitting the other side of the tank, moving down the wall and then shifting the sand on that side to the right. I keep getting big holes in the sand down to the soil substrate. Does anyone have a fix for this please?

I suspect the answer might be to alter the filter outflow.

I too have this problem but as I don't have a plant substrate I have a corner of bare glass visible, in 2 tanks.

As Sue says, you need to alter the flow.  You can achieve this in other ways though.  You could try moving the decor round, a stone here, a plant there. This should do the job, it's a bit "trial and error" though!

How about trying to aim the flow at the centre of the front of the tank?

It might then deflect across the tank.

I've got the filter pretty much hidden where its situated now although the flow isn't impeded in any way. I hate having to look at a big black box  :(  I'll try with some gravel on that side I think, I need to find a way to work it in with the rest of the tank layout.

Thankee for the advice guys
