Title: Noisy Heater
Post by: Aquamaid on January 06, 2015, 03:57:42 PM
Should heater make a noise, i have new APS 300w it does the job fine, but when i first put it in horizontally, it started making tapping noise that got gradually louder so i positioned it more vertical and it stopped, a few days later and its making a bit of a whining noise, not just gentle hum, are your heaters silent?

A heater should be silent. Does it only make a noise when it is on, i.e. when the red neon light is shining? If so, it may be faulty. If it makes the noise all the time, then it should be something else making it vibrate, maybe the filter.

Of course, it could be possessed by the spirit of a dead fish .......................... :)

is this the heater you just bought brand new ? I seem to recall you mentioning the purchase of a new heater if so i would contact the place you bought it from and arrange for a exchange or refund straight away heaters should be silent and if this one is making a noise while switched on then there must be something wrong.

Update on noisy heater, i contacted APS and explained my concerns, they couldn't have been more helpfull, after agreeing it didn't sound right they are sending me new heater and i don't even have to post the old one back, so a big YEAH! for them.
